Our mission is to help people grow—on and off the mats—through high-level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a beginner-friendly, competition-ready environment that builds strong community and challenges you to become your best.

Professor Anthony Wagner is the head instructor at Coast Jiu Jitsu. A military veteran, Anthony brings the discipline, leadership, and resilience developed during his years of service into everything he does on the mats.

With more than a decade of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training, Anthony is a passionate black belt dedicated to helping students grow through the art of Jiu Jitsu. His teaching focuses on leverage, technical precision, and mindset, helping students build confidence, sharpen their focus, and overcome challenges both on and off the mat.

Throughout his journey in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Anthony has had the unique opportunity to train under and learn from multiple world class instructors across several respected lineages. His development includes instruction connected to the lineages of Matt Serra and Marcelo Garcia. He has also trained extensively with Rehan Muttalib, a black belt under world champion Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles. Anthony received his black belt from Derrick Kennington, a black belt under UFC veteran Kurt Pellegrino, who received his black belt from the legendary Marcelo Garcia.

For Anthony, Jiu Jitsu is more than a sport. It is a lifestyle and a path of personal growth. His coaching philosophy centers on creating a welcoming environment where beginners feel comfortable starting their journey, experienced students are challenged to grow, and everyone is encouraged to improve step by step.

Training is also a family commitment for the Wagner household. His entire family trains together, sharing in the discipline and growth that comes through martial arts, while his wife brings her own intensity to the fight world through boxing.

At Coast Jiu Jitsu, Professor Wagner is committed to building more than skilled grapplers. He is building a community where people become stronger, more confident, and better equipped for life.
